Spring has Sprung!

Finally, it feels like Spring has come to Ohio. I know, having been a resident of Ohio for 8 years and Pittsburgh for 20, that there's at least one more snow to come, but nonetheless, I've been celebrating the outdoor time with my kids and husband.

The other project that's kept me away from my blog is that we're getting ready to sell our house. It's a charming older home...which means we've had some charming projects. It really has been a great home and despite our excitement to move into a bigger home, we are so sad to see it go.

I'm making a book of images to commemorate some of the details that we worked so hard on to make this house our home over the last 6 years. Here are my two favorites right now.

I'm gearing up to start shooting engagement sessions and I've hired a new assistant for the wedding season! I've still a few dates left in June and July, November and December. Sign up for my newsletter to get special deals on family portraiture!

Where have I been?

There are several answers to that question...

First, we're getting ready to list our house and we've been delaing with a builder getting ready for our new house! Let me know if you're looking for a beautiful, charming 3 bed, 1 and 1/2 bath in Clintonville!!

Second, I've been finishing up the classes I was taking this quarter. Great fun, so much work!

Third, I've been consulting with couples like crazy! I only have a few dates left betwen May and October...email or call me now if you're looking for a last minute wedding photog.

Lastly, I've had a couple of fun shoots...I did a big family birthday party, a maternity shoot and some more pics of my friend Andrew.

I was so excited to check my email this morning and see a note from Wedding Wire...a wedding planning website associated with Martha Stewart Weddings. Minister Images Photography was named a winner in the 2009 Bride's Choice Awards!

I guess I should say FOUR! I spent Saturday morning with Gracie taking some 4 year old birthday portraits. Gracie used to be our neighber and is my son George's betrothed (ha), but but also a great little model!

We had a ball at the Franklin Park Conservatory even though we had to brave the cold to get there.

Portrait session #1 of the new year

This morning I spent some time with Carter (and his mom & dad) to take images commemorating his 3rd birthday! We had some fun, particularly with the marbles.

I am booking portrait sessions with a new addition of a digital package, $175 for the session that includes 15 edited and color corrected images on a disk for you to print, keep, upload to Facebook...you get the idea.

My basic package remains $150 for the session including a $50 print credit - prints range from $4 to $20, best rates for professional quality prints that you'll see.

Life is good

I am having a busy couple of weeks. Since the bridal show, I've been meeting with brides and grooms and making wedding bookings for 2009. Thanks to those of you who've signed on...it's going to be a great year!

What's more, I'm taking the time to keep learning in a photography class. It's so important to get feedback and learn more tricks of the trade. And fun too...here's a photo from my latest project. Isn't it great to have kids for subjects?

Happy holidays

As I prepare to host my family for our Christmas eve dinner, I wanted to take a minute to reflect on how amazing this year has been for me. I decided to take initiative in my business and it paid off. Thank you to all of the wonderful people who hired me to document their weddings or their families.

How fortunate are we when our passion and our work collides? I know it's rare and I am blessed to have the opportunity to spend some of my days behind my camera.

What's more, I have amazing family & friends who probably will never know exactly how much they mean to me.

Take a minute this holiday season to remind yourself of the blessings you have.

Kids, swimmers and Santa!

Colleen and Mike

On Friday night, I was asked to photograph the candlelit wedding service for Colleen and Mike. It was beautiful on the snowy evening. Afterward I followed the couple down to Lindey's where they had a great dinner with all of their friends and family.
